A Message From Our President

Annual Steamship Night 2009

I want to begin my message with a big thank you to all of the people, companies and sponsors who participated in our 2009 PTA Steamship Night. We continue to hold this event at the Marriott Hotel and this year changed our dining room to the Marriott's Golden Gate Room, which proved to be perfect for the number of people, providing a more intimate and elegant ambiance. We held a festive cocktail hour in the foyer outside the room while enjoying jazz music by the band, Blue on Green.

As everyone entered the dining room and took their seats, I welcomed the group and recognized two people that made my life so much easier – Jane Wisdom and Monte Boscovich. Jane worked so hard on taking the reservations and organizing the seating. Monte provided support for all of the tasks and had the board printed with our Door Prize Sponsors' names. We then followed with the business card drawing for four great gifts.

I concluded with making a toast to everyone in the room, expressing hopes for a better 2010. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful dinner with a special final treat - a dessert buffet set up in the foyer where our guests could select several delectable desserts to enjoy with their coffee. The evening concluded with more music from Blue on Green.

I received the following note from Theresa Brennan of "K" Line following the event:

Just wanted to tell both of you "THANK YOU" for accommodating "K" LINE TABLE of eight last night. Although total attendance was light compared to previous years - I thought last night's venue was very classy, more "intimate", and much easier on the ears and voice in actually being able to converse with guests. I liked the champagne toast at the start of dinner - also enjoyed the desserts! Nicely done - Thanks!
Theresa

This was a smaller event than in previous years and yet it felt special. Maybe it is the fact we all need some fun during these uncertain times and that we truly appreciate each other and the friendships we have made over the years.

Thanks again to all that participated and I hope that we will see brighter prospects for 2010!
