PTA MEMBERS

Welcome to a new year of PTA events, news and information. Hopefully you will use the PTA for these but also to take advantage of networking within the transportation industry.

Our first event is just around the corner. The annual Sports Luncheon is Thursday, March 10th. It is being held at Sinbad's Restaurant located at scenic Pier 2 in San Francisco. Our guest speaker is Kimball Livingston. He is an avid yachtsman, having sailed worldwide on some of the best known craft ever launched. He was a writer of the Francis Ford Coppola feature film WIND and currently Editor-at-Large of Sail magazine. He is a captivating speaker with great stories to tell. With the America's Cup coming to San Francisco Bay September 2013 Kimball's presentation will be timely and of great interest to us all.

Following lunch we will hold our annual sale of 2011 Giants season tickets to active PTA members. The two seats are located in section 104 just a few rows off the field. This year we will also raffle a very special item of Giants' memorabilia as well as Opening Day tickets. The cost for this terrific event is just $50 per person or $450 for a table of ten. This will be quite an event and also give you the opportunity to network with other members. If you have not already reserved your seat or table please do so within the next few days. Our next event is the annual Ports and Terminals Luncheon. It will be held during May and again present a guest speaker or speakers that will provide you with current news, information and a perspective on activity involving our local Ports and Terminals and, related transportation issues. This event will also give you the opportunity to network with other members and make new contacts. Continue to check our website for an update on the date and guest speaker(s). I'll send another message to all of you well in advance of the Luncheon so you can make your plans to attend.

The third event of the year is the annual PTA Golf Tournament. We plan to hold the Tournament on June 23rd, but if there is a change another message will be sent to you and updates posted in the PTA website along with the particular Course and related details. As with all of our Golf Tournaments a geat lunch will be provided, a fine Course to play on, after-golf buffet and, prizes and a fun raffle. This event sells out every year so I encourage you to register quickly after you receive my message and it is posted in our website.

Our largest event of the year is the annual Steamship Night Dinner. The 2010 Dinner hosted one of the highest attendance we've had in recent years. The feedback we received was very positive and complimentary. We expect another great turnout this year and it will again include a pre-dinner cocktail hour, a terrific dinner, music and the chance to see friends and colleagues. This is always an enjoyable event and will give you the chance to network and make new contacts. The Dinner will be held in late September or early October. I will send another message to all of you once the details are in place but continue to view our website for related information.

Now on a less enjoyable but very important note, if you have not paid your 2011 dues please do so quickly.
